Our Setting

Our colourful open plan classrooms provide a number of dedicated areas, designed in order to promote sensory and creative skills. We aim to stimulate all areas of the children's development and to provide a balance of adult lead and child initiated activities. The children have numerous areas within both the inside and outside classrooms to explore. The areas include construction, maths, literacy, role play, water play, sand play and story area. We have easily accessible children's toilets and sinks to encourage toilet training.

We have strong links with Bidford-on-Avon Primary School and work closley in partnership with the reception teachers. We are independent from the school, however have opportunities to use the school hall for P.E lessons, the shcool playing field and the forest school area.

Each child has their own key worker who plays a very important role, as they build strong links with the children and their parents. The key worker will be able to identify learning abilities, interests and next steps of development.

We use a range of Makaton signs to support communication, language and literacy skills with all the children in our care. We feel it is a very important part of communication to promote all children's development and has shown to be very useful to help children in our care who are learning English as an additional language. The children learn and sign our 'Super Manners Song' before snack/lunchtime and our 'Goodbye Song' at the end of each session. We also use signs along with many words, e.g. please, thank you, share, play, milk, water etc and nursery rhymes. Children with or without language difficulties can communicate with each other, learn and play together more easily.
